To my Houston people I have a proposal:

As you know we have tragedies that besiege us everyday of our lives and we as Kenyans have always come to aid our brothers and sisters that are facing those problems. Personally am proud of what we do and God bless everyone that comes out to support. But truth be told for the most part we see the same people come to these functions (Guys like Laban Opande, Mike Gathecha, Protus to name a few) and sometimes (depending on who that person knows) we see some people we have never met before. I have been to a function here in Houston where I probably know 20% of the people or less. I know times are tough but we should always be together regardless who that person is.

Proposal: We have KENSHO (Kenyan Society in Houston) that can take lead on this. Kenyans in Houston are in the thousands. We can contribute $10 or even $20 a month and have this moneys help out in time of need. There has to be strict rules of who is to benefit – that can be discussed but for me I think it should only go towards parents and immediate siblings and most importantly it should go to the people making the monthly contributions. Easily we can have $15,000 or whatever is agreed upon without going through the functions that we do. Our normal fundraisers can still be done for further assistance.

I am calling upon everyone to contribute to this post.
If there is support for this then we can arrange a meeting where we will invite everyone that is willing to participate in this endeavor to discuss further.
